The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Erie County will be hosting a brand new event for the Erie area. It is called Pumpkin D’Light Night Walking Tour and will feature hundreds of carved and lighted pumpkins on wooded trails. There will also be educational exhibits and prize drawings. It will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2012 (rain or shine) from 5-9pm in Headwaters Park at the Erie County Conservation District. The park is located at 1927 Wager Road, just north of the Parade Street (Route 8) Exit from Interstate 90.
Several local businesses are helping to sponsor the event, and many schools and other organizations are carving and decorating the pumpkins.
This will be a family-friendly event, with the admission costing only $2 per person. Children under 2 will be admitted free of charge. Since the walk will take place in the evening, it is very important for everyone to bring flashlights and to dress for a ½ -mile walk in the woods.
