Combat the winter blahs by coming out for an evening of Scottish food, music and dancing, plus an appearance by Erie’s own Rev. Shawn Clerkin.
The Robert Burns Scottish Club of Erie will be celebrating the 254th anniversary of the birth of Scottish poet Robert Burns at their annual Burns supper on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Erie Maennerchor Club.
A highlight of each Burns Supper is the Haggis Ceremony, featuring Burns’ “Ode to a Haggis” performed by Edinboro University’s Timothy Thompson, Ph.D. Brave diners will try a taste of Haggis along with their choice of dinner selections served by the Maennerchor Club.
Following dinner, the Rev. Shawn Clerkin of Gannon University, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and the Erie Playhouse will deliver the Immortal Memory to Robert Burns. Guests will also be treated to Scottish Highland Dancers and bagpiping, and can participate in Scottish country dancing (with much direction provided).
The dinner is open to the public, but reservations are necessary. Please call Chris (868-3545) or Alan (474-2431) for more information.
